Today Chris got an IEP. I knew that his speech was a bit behind, so I had him evaluated. Today was the meeting for that eval. They agreed that his speech was delayed (60% understandable instead of 80-90% and <50% age appropriate grammar usage instead of 80%), but they also noticed at the eval that he has low muscle tone and below average balance ability! Plus his pre-writing skills are not up to his age level and he holds the marker with an immature grip....Ok, all I was worried about/noticed was the speech! They decided that putting him into a preschool class (and the therapists visit the classroom each day) was in his best interest. He will start preschool on November 4th. He will go twice a week, 3 hours a day in the morning.
For a few hours I struggled with having TWO kids with an IEP, but in the end I realized that Chris's delays are not bad and he has no underlying problems that would lead to an ongoing IEP. He'll probably only have an IEP for 1 or 2 years! Andrew, on the other hand, will have his 8th IEP meeting next month. He, I am sure, will have one until he is out of school.
On a more positive note, Chris doing well with potty training! (Finally!!) He is wearing underwear all day long (even over nap time) and staying dry almost all of the time! He still has an *accident* once and a while, but not even once a day! YAY! He still needs a diaper overnight, though, and it's always we when he gets up in the morning!!
Lily is sick with a head cold. I am sure Matt gave it to her. He's the only one that's been sick in the house lately. She doesn't have a fever and doesn't seemed bothered by it unless she's trying to sleep. Then her nose is so congested that she can't breathe easily and she gets MAD! Her nose has also turned into a leaky faucet that just won't stop running! It's crazy! I've never seen so much snot come outta someone so little! I HOPE she feels better soon!
Tonight Dan and I made 6 dozen cupcakes for Andrew's birthday party on Saturday! I decided it was more economical to make cupcakes, instead of buying them. Also, I don't know how many people to expect, so I wouldn't know how many to buy from the bakery, plus I don't have to stop and pick them up before the party! We'll see how that goes! Dan, of course, went to bed at 9 like usual, so he only helped witht he first batch. *I* was up un til midnight finishing up the rest of them! We will frost them on Saturday before the party!
